Based in Portland, Oregon, Scarlet Star Studios was founded by Gretchin Lair & Sven Bonnichsen, creative partners since
2003. We are creative advocates who like to encourage people to make art!
We are also creators ourselves, and between the two of us we indulge our
compulsion to create in a variety of forms:
 visual arts: calligraphy, jewelry, acrylics,
monoprints, sculpture, ephemera, limited edition letterpress & gocco printing,
stop-motion & CG animation, film, web
literary arts: poetry, bookbinding,
documentation, tutorials & essays, many of which can be found on our blog, the
